The Gallery Wall

The Gallery Wall, a study in method
Artisan hand cut glass mosaic medallion shower floor

Hand-cut mosaic

Hand-Cut Glass Mosaic Medallion

A custom KiwiTile mosaic medallion designed for a private ensuite shower base, developed through reference geometry, hand placement, and progressive visual refinement.

Mosaic shower base progress stage one
Mosaic shower base progress stage two
Mosaic shower base progress stage three

The sequence shows the medallion developing from reference geometry into hand placement, before the final surrounding field brings the pattern into full resolution.

Large Format

The onyx-look feature gives the wall a strong, dynamic presence with far less visual interruption than conventional tile.

At only 6mm thick but 2400 × 1200mm in scale, the sheets require careful handling, cutting and positioning throughout installation.

Material variation

VARIATIONS

Stone, mosaics, and pool plaster are different thicknesses.

The pool and spa shells were screeded to accommodate those variations, for all surfaces to meet cleanly.

Immaculate finish

Mosaics

Planning is everything for an immaculate finish.

Mosaics rely on minimising tolerances, creating flat planes and controlling geometry before installation.

Flush detailing

Onyx Ensuite

The wall was screeded and laser verified so the mirror could recess flush with the surrounding tiling.

The flat screeded plane provided the solid substrate needed to securely anchor the tapware.

Stone templating

Onyx Stone

The stone was templated to millimetre accuracy BEFORE the surrounding tile was laid.

When the delivered stone did not match our template, that sequence allowed us to cut, polish and correct it on site — then conceal the adjustments behind the surrounding tile, laid afterwards to preserve a seamless finish.

Spanish mosaic spa presented as an architectural feature within the main pool

A True Circle

Mosaics laid to a circular pattern cannot resolve cleanly in full tile modules on an oval shell.

The spa was reshaped to a true circle, with the horizontal planes levelled, allowing the Spanish mosaic to present as the intended architectural feature within the main pool.

Controlled composition

Composed

Whether handmade Moroccan tiles, marble, or large-format, the work must be controlled for the material to land with composure.

Even when undulated surfaces are the feature.

Controlled alignment

Geometric Pool & Spa

Full mosaic modules flowed from the main pool into the spa, including steps, curves and changing planes.

Uncompromising infinity lines demanded disciplined set-out and control throughout.

Detailing method

TrueLine Mitre Control

Mitres are the visible result of planning, cutting accuracy, and precise placement.

When light catches the edge, the workmanship is revealed.
